The Encounter Training is a four-day event that moves you closer to the freedom and hope that God has for you. Through a series of structured experiences you will have the opportunity to explore, understand, and move beyond what keeps you from achieving the life you desire. As a result, participants find a greater capacity to love others,  pursue their dreams, and live out the unique vision God intended for them.

ENCOUNTERING GOD

What may come to mind when you think about encountering God is Bible stories of Moses and the burning bush or when Moses received the Ten Commandments. While this type of experience with God would be extraordinary, this isn’t typically how we encounter God today. For most of us, it comes in rare moments of solitude and prayer, on a walk in the woods, or in a time of corporate worship. Given the full lives most of us lead with work and kids and other commitments,we all likely desire to encounter God more often. And we will find that our best opportunities to be with God come when we can set aside time for that purpose—when we turn off the TV, get away from the family, turn off the cell phone, and spend time dedicated to seeking God. The Encounter is that kind of time. This is four days where you can escape the rat race of life and, first and foremost, have a holy encounter with God.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
— Jeremiah 29:13

ENCOUNTERING OTHERS

Since the world isn’t made up of just you and you alone, it’s important to learn the art of loving others. Given the hectic nature of life, we rarely find the intimacy and depth in our relationships that we were created to experience. Left with hollow, casual interactions in our day-to-day lives can leave us isolated and longing for more. The Encounter is an opportunity to experience genuine community and love for others and can equip you to go out and cultivate the intimacy you desire with your friends and family.

You shall love your neighbor as you love yourself.
— Matthew 19:1

ENCOUNTERING SELF

We all wake up each day to that person in the mirror, a physical reflection of who we are. However, truly assessing who we are internally is a much more difficult task. We act the way we do largely because of the unique set of events in our lives and the beliefs we’ve developed as a result about how the world works. The Encounter is a chance to uncover the layers of who we are and discover the areas in our lives where our beliefs may not fully align with God’s Word. We can only repent when we truly see those things in life which don’t line up with God’s ways. The Encounter is a powerful time of introspection and repentance.

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
— James 1:23-24
